This is a stroll down from our Hotel Palazzo Starace in Sorrento, Italy. Dangerous walk but a great reveal at the end.
The Hotel Palazzo Starace in Sorrento, Italy is a great place to stay and one of my favorite locations in all of Italy. It’s right of the town square on a super quaint, very narrow side street.
In fact, since a car can’t make it to the doorway they come down and meet you in the square (at that cafe right behind the statue) to help you bring your bags up (slight up hill walk) to the hotel. It’s super cool. There are no elevators but they take your bags up on a hoist that hangs down the center of the stairwell. It’s about a 4 foot square bucket with a cable. At first I though it was their version of the elevator, which got a big laugh from our host.
We got a room on the first floor, which was great for us. This picture shows the front desk area coming off the first flight from the street. Our room was off to the right. The hoist was to the left.
There was some Vespa traffic and a bar outside our window that had some noise one night. They seem very careful about noise in the little side street along our hotel even though it’s lined with these little restaurants and pubs. I’m a light sleeper but had no problem.
Our room was large and very well adorned. This was our room and there as another 6 feet of room behind me. The entry way is just off screen to the left. They have breakfast and the food was excellent.
They have a balcony that overlooks the larger street on the other side of the hotel. This view is along the balcony railing away from the square.
Beautiful!
